Job Description
We are looking for an energetic, outgoing, self-motivated individual to join our Print/Copy Production Team. The Print Production Assistant operates the Center’s print center for both graphic design and production. He or she will work with customers to create, schedule, and produce their print products. The Print Production Assistant will be responsible for the day to day production, operation, day to day maintenance including troubleshooting of all equipment and copy services used to provide high quality output in a timely manner. He or she is responsible for the complete operation of the print production, graphic design, scheduling and managing of the workflow to meet all deadlines. This part time position has the possibility of becoming a full time position.
The ideal candidate has one to two years of experience in print production, or a two-year degree in graphic design or a related field, experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, digital copier equipment, knowledge of printing concepts, ability to run digital jobs from PDF's, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite or any application, familiarity with the Command Workstation Fiery setting up any job, familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, production experience with digital printing and bindery equipment, knowledge of folding, book binding, has the ability to work in a fast paced environment, makes independent decisions, manages multiple priorities, has excellent organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, completes all projects in a timely manner, ability to handle sensitive and or confidential materials and has attention to detail. Knowledge of folding, cutting and processing digital files is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completes tasks independently in a quick turn environment
- Understands color management and applies file adjustments
- Follows and understands quality guidelines
- Interprets a variety of instructions provided in written or verbal form
- Brainstorms and mocks up design ideas
- Presents concepts or ideas to clients
- Meets with clients and adjusts designs to fit their needs or taste
- Reads and understands all job requirements before beginning desktop process
- Effectively manages production schedule and production materials
- Operates and maintains print and finishing equipment
- Maintains strong attention to detail when proofing all materials
- Prepares and assembles images and illustrative material and copy and manages layout for publication
- Prepares/completes the creative concepts, graphic design, pre-press work, and technical specifications necessary to complete projects
- Produces/designs, proofs, and updates materials for customer projects
- Completes pre-press set up in Adobe based platforms (Acrobat InDesign, Pagemaker, Illustrator, Photoshop) for both Mac and PC
- Consistently follows up on production activity using various communication methods (telephone, email, etc.)
- Develops and maintains accurate customer files based on production work flow
- Develops as a team player and is critical to the production process
- Develops creative concepts and builds graphic solutions for customers
- Maintain and troubleshoot copiers and equipment as needed
- Run digital jobs from PDF's, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- Helps manage Center maintenance, including cleanliness, safety, and organization
- Manages inventory
- Answers phones courteously and provides accurate, detailed information
- Communicates effectively and continuously practices good listening with customers, co-workers, vendors, and leadership

QUALIFICATIONS
- One to two years of experience or a two-year degree in graphic design or a related field
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites (2 years preferred)
- Production scheduling experience
- Project management skills
- Production experience with digital printing and bindery equipment
- Able to work and complete tasks independently in a quick turn environment
- Knowledge and application of printing concepts
- Good concept of color management and able to apply file adjustments
- Able to follow and understand quality guidelines
- Able to operate and maintain print and finishing equipment
- Good communication and people skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and math
