Prior Authorization Specialist - Medical Insurance

Position Overview
The Patient Access Coordinator is responsible for the pre-authorization and verification process, ensuring proper documentation is in place for patient care and billing.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide the highest level of customer care working with patients and their families, physicians and Insurance providers
• Obtain pre-authorizations and all necessary documentation is in place for procedures
• Ensure accurate coding using ICD-10 and CPT guidelines
• Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits and coverage
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for patient care
• Resolve any issues related to insurance authorization and billing inquiries
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and data entry of information

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associates or Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
• Proficiency in pre-authorization processes and ICD-10 coding
• Knowledge of medical billing and insurance processes
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Familiarity with medical insurance and authorization processes
