The Position: ACT/SAT Tutor (Part-Time)
Compensation: $45/hr for in-person tutoring in our Winnetka office; $30/hr for virtual tutoring
Academic Approach began with a focused mission: to mentor students while building their key academic skills. Join our team of dedicated educators to deliver rewarding, highly personalized, high-impact 1-on-1 and classroom course instruction. While many of our 1-on-1 tutoring students prefer to work virtually, we are currently looking exclusively for candidates who are willing to tutor in-person at our Winnetka office. Please note that this is not a full-time position, and it will not be a good fit for those seeking full-time work; while average hours per week vary drastically from instructor to instructor, most of our instructors average 8-12 instructional hours per week.
At this juncture, we are looking for candidates who are interested in working with Academic Approach at least through the 2024-25 school year (hopefully longer).
Academic Approach is firmly committed to creating a diverse workplace and is proud to provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender identity and/or expression, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, genetics, marital status, amnesty status, or veteran status. Applicants of diverse backgrounds, skillsets, and experiences are especially encouraged to apply.
Note about content quiz: Please note that--due to the nature of this tutor/instructor position-- all candidates will need to complete a content quiz that includes English and math questions prior to being considered for an interview. This (untimed) quiz should take approximately 30-45 mins to complete.
Note about training: We believe strongly in our robust tutor training. Our Gateway Training module, which is a combination of synchronous sessions and asynchronous homework and which all of our new tutors must complete to be eligible to take on 1-on-1 students, takes an estimated 31 hours to complete and is typically offered over 2-3 weeks. The stipend for Gateway Training is $550. Successful candidates may also be invited to School Programs Training in order to become eligible to teach classes with our partner schools. The School Programs Training module takes an estimated 26 hours to complete. The stipend for School Programs Training is $425.
